Highlighted below are some of our most frequently asked questions
for the Be The Change 5K run/walk.

  • How do I register?

    We make it easy! Just register online to secure your spot.

  • Can I bring my kids?

    Absolutely. This is a family-friendly event and we encourage your kids to participate. We even have a special discounted Youth price ($18) for kids aged 8-17. Plus, children under 8 can run for free – no registration necessary. So, make this run an annual family tradition!

  • Can I bring my stroller?

    Yes, you can. Plus, any child under 8 can participate free and they don’t need to register.

  • Can I bring my dog?

    Unfortunately, no 🙁 We’d LOVE to bring our furry little running companions, but pets are not permitted on the 5K course.

  • Do I have to go to bib pick-up prior to the race?

    Bib pick-up will take place on Friday, August 24 at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel between 12:00PM – 6:00PM. We highly recommend heading there first to make your morning easier. Bib pick-up will also be available the morning of the race, starting at 7:00 A.M.

  • Does everyone get a t-shirt?

    YES, and they’re AWESOME!

  • Where do I stay?

    We have a special discounted rate at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel (where the race is taking place)! Feel free to book your reservation here – first come, first served!

  • Can I transfer my race entry to another runner?

    Yes, transfers are allowed through Tuesday, August 21 for a $10 fee. Please submit all transfer requests here.

  • If I can no longer run, can I get a refund?

    We can’t issue refunds, but we do allow transfers through Tuesday, August 21. So, feel free to transfer to a friend!

  • Can I park on-site or get dropped off where the race starts?

    Sure. There’s plenty of parking for all runners on-site at the Hilton Bayfront garage. Parking costs $20, so we recommend carpooling or using a ride sharing service.

  • What is the course like?

    The 5K course is flat and 100% paved. It’s right along the San Diego Bayfront boardwalk, with beautiful sights along the way!

  • Is there a time limit?

    No, but the event does end at 11:00 A.M. so you’ll have three hours to complete the 5K if you want to cross the finish line.

  • How should I dress for the weather in San Diego?

    San Diego summers are usually dry, hot, and sunny. Be sure to protect your skin and stay hydrated. Grab your sunscreen and dress in light, breathable layers. Don’t forget your sunglasses!

  • Will there be water stations?

    Yes, there will be water stations and other beverages available at the race.

  • Where can I store my stuff?

    We’ll provide a gear check station at the race. Just fasten the tear-off tab at the bottom of your bib to your bag and hand it to bag check crew. The crew will only return your bag when you provide the matching bib. We’re not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

  • What happens after the 5K?

    Cross the finish line and get ready to celebrate! After the 5K, join us at the Wellness Fair to get your 5K gear and for fantastic giveaways and freebies. Plus, participate in unique opportunities to give back and get in on the dance party with our DJ! We’ll also present awards to the top performers in each age group and hear from some of our sponsored charities, so don’t miss out!

  • I can't make it to the event — can I sponsor someone else to run/walk in my place?

    Yes, you can become a Heart Partner by emailing us with the details about who you will be sponsoring, and we’ll send you both a t-shirt!

  • Who benefits from the money collected at the 5K event?

    100% of the net proceeds from the Be The Change 5K will benefit Make-A-Wish® San Diego, Caterina’s Club and the Gary Sinise Foundation. The Be The Change Foundation, on behalf of Youngevity, has committed to donating a minimum of 30,000 to be distributed equally among our three 5K charity partners.
